Xuan Kong Feng Shui (Flying Star Feng Shui) is a highly influential Form and Qi school within traditional Chinese feng shui. Its core philosophy lies in the “dynamic integration of time (Periods/Cycles) and space (Directions).”
Based on the theoretical foundations of the I Ching (Book of Changes), the Hetu (Yellow River Chart), and the Luoshu (Luo River Square), it operates on the principle that “feng shui changes over time.” Its primary core concepts include:
* Three Cycles and Nine Periods (San Yuan Jiu Yun): Xuan Kong divides time into “Three Cycles” (Upper, Middle, and Lower), with each cycle containing three 20-year periods, totaling 180 years for one complete grand cycle. Under different periods, the auspicious and inauspicious magnetic fields of each direction shift over time.
* Flying Stars (Jiu Xing Fei Bo): Using nine stars—1 White, 2 Black, 3 Jade, 4 Green, 5 Yellow, 6 White, 7 Red, 8 White, and 9 Purple—the system plots them into a nine-grid chart following specific trajectories (Flying Star Charts) to evaluate the energy of a residence.
* Convergence of Mountain and Water (Shan Shui Jiao Hui): It asserts that “mountains govern health and people, while water governs wealth and career.” Mountain stars dictate health and family harmony, whereas Water stars (Facing stars) influence career and prosperity. These must align with the actual environment surrounding the home (such as mountains, rivers, and roads) to achieve optimal results in attracting wealth and neutralizing negative energy.
Rather than relying on static layouts, Xuan Kong Feng Shui uses precise compass measurements and time-period calculations to optimize energy flow, maximizing good fortune while mitigating harm.
